Leidos DSI is excited to announce that we’ve launched a new website! With the help of our web team at GSL Solutions, we put together a new site to highlight our product offerings, support resources, and other content for our customers. Because our team builds websites for our customers on a regular basis, we wanted to walk the walk and show how they were able to find unique solutions to the challenges we faced in redesigning our website. So, here are some reasons why we chose to redesign our website and you should too.

Consolidate content

An important reason we decided to redesign our site was so that we could consolidate all of the content we had replicated over the years for our different markets. Our goal for this project was to centralize content so that it was easily maintainable in case we had to make significant updates.

That’s why our site only contains one web form that flows directly into IQ, where visitors can select their reason for contacting us. This ensures that all web form submissions are kept in one central location so that we can address customer concerns as quickly as possibly. Additionally, instead of creating separate support sections for different customers, we created one central support hub where users can filter by market, product, function, and content type to get the help they need.

Brand consistently

Although it wasn’t time for us to rebrand, we did want to change our look, especially on our website. When you visit our new site, you’ll see that the design reflects this modern style with updated colors and more modern looking graphics.

Create user-friendly navigation

Using feedback from our customers and insights from Google Analytics, we wanted the opportunity to simplify the path that visitors were taking when they came to our site. On our homepage, you’ll see that we highlight our major product offers first, giving users the ability to get where they want in one click. We also wanted to make our support section easily accessible, which is why it is highlighted in the big menu at the top of the site.

Revisit messaging

Building a new site also gave us the opportunity to revisit old content that needed to be updated or remade completely. Our team built new pages and created new content to meet the needs of our customers, such as our new section on infographics, a home for our past webinar recordings, and resource pages for Congressional offices organized by staffer role.

Create engaging layouts

We wanted our new site to be engaging and dynamic at first sight. That’s why we worked with our web team to create our new home page that auto-updates with new content, like our blogs and social media feeds, and is interactive, with buttons and a call to action.

Make responsive design

With more and more people spending time online, we wanted our site to be easily accessible to anyone on any mobile device. Our web team specializes in responsive designs and worked with us to create a site where users can get the information they need, whether on a desktop or mobile device.

Easily mange posts and pages

Not being coders ourselves, we needed a content management system (CMS) where we could build new content and easily maintain the site independently. Our web team quickly identified a template to fit our needs, and created customized pages and modules that we could recreate easily on our own in the back end of the website.

Timing

As people are spending more time online right now, we wanted our website to be optimized for hosting past virtual events, easily building new content, and creating landing pages for timely updates. Since we can’t rely on in-person events to communicate important information, it is more important than ever that we are able to use our site as a way to reach our audience effectively.
